"DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of social media in strategic communication. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, devices, or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice"This blog is an open response to the solicitation. The articles presented here are relevant to the creation of a set of systems to meet the solicitation's TA1 and TA2 tracks.
Tracks
TA1: produce technology that can mine social sites for strategic communications or behaviors and perhaps inject a synthesized message to enhance or counteract such messages.
TA2: produce a scaled-down, potentially mocked-up ab initio social media site for the purpose of testing TA1 technologies.
TA3: (not often discussed if at all) test TA1 technologies on the TA2 social media site (performance, scale, efficacy, outcome)
This blog has a sister blog, SMiSC Roundup, which focuses on the solicitation, its efforts and products, and information about the technologies related or adjacent to this work.
